The Bishop of Ho Diocese most Rev. Emmanuel Kofi Fianu, SVD has ordained six (6) young men as priests of one was ordained for the Society of the Divine Word (SVD), a missionary society whilst the rest five will serve within the Ho Diocese.
The solemn and colourful ordained ceremony took place at the sacred Heart Catholic Church Fodome-Helu in the Hohoe municipality.
In the sermon, bishop Fianu admonished the newly ordained priests to bear in mind that the flocks are not for them but for the Lord so they should take good care of them in consideration as their own and also sacrifice themselves for the people they are leading.
Bishop Fianu cautioned them to resist any form of temptation of preaching themselves or focusing on themselves because they are for the word. “Preach Christ always” he stated.
Bishop Fianu also urged them to always be the light for the flocks and lead the flocks in peace, unity, consolation and refreshment in their gospel or preaching.
As a reminder he disclosed the priesthood is a ministry of service not Lordship.
The bishop later asked all the faithful to always remember to pray for the priests so that they may always reflect the image of Christ Jesus the good shepherd.
At the ceremony were hundreds of priests, religious brothers and sisters as well as seminarians.
The Deputy Volta Regional Minister Maxwell Blagodzi, Minister for Land and Natural Resources, Mr. John Peter Amewu, the Hohoe municipal Chief Executive Mr. Teddy Andrews Ofori, the District Chief Executive for North Dayi Hon. Kudjo Edmund Attah, Chiefs and Queen mothers of the traditional area within and beyond the parish and over 4000 faithful witnessed the events.
