GIS cautions Ghanaians against travelling to Togo on Friday

The Ghana Immigration Service has picked intelligence that civilians and opposition political parties in that country were planning a political protest in the national capital-Lome on Friday.

The Deputy Commissioner of Immigration in charge of the Ghana Immigration Service (GIS) in the Volta region has cautioned Ghanaians against travelling to Togo on Friday, August 25.
According to the Commissioner, Mr Isaac Owusu Mensah, his outfit had picked intelligence that civilians and opposition political parties in that country were planning a political protest in the national capital-Lome on Friday.
He has, therefore, asked Ghanaians wishing to travel to Togo on that day to be “careful”, the Ghana News Agency reports.

He added that the Aflao-Lome Border would remain opened but warned travellers not to get involved in any political activity in Togo.
A protest in the country last Saturday left seven people dead and about 27 arrested.
