There is mounting tension in the Ada East District Assembly in the Greater Accra Region, as President Nana Akufo-Addo’s nominee for the District Chief Executive position, Sarah Dugbakie Pobee, appears before members for another round of voting.
The nominee failed to secure the required two-thirds of the total votes cast during the second round of voting on Wednesday, October 25, 2017, as she polled 19 out of a total of 36 votes, representing 52 percent.
Friday will be her third attempt to secure the approval of the assembly for the job of DCE.
Meanwhile, reports are emerging that some members of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) are threatening members to coerce members of the assembly to accept the President’s nominee.
Sources who spoke on condition of anonymity said there are plans to ensure Ms Pobee gets the nod at all cost.
